DC MLB Previews: Kansas City Royals

Key Additions:
Coco Crisp
Kyle farnsworth
Mike Jacobs

Key Subtractions:
Leo Nunez
That guy the Red Sox got. Something Ramirez

Line-up:
1. Coco Crisp CF
2. Mike Aviles SS
3. David DeJesus LF
4. Jose Guillen RF
5. Mike Jacobs 1B
6. Billy Butler DH
7. Alex Gordon 3B
8. Miguel Olivo C
9. Alberto Callaspo 2B

This line-up could surprise many. They seem to have a team full of potential, but with question marks surrounding all. Coco Crisp could be a great lead off hitter, if he can go back to his Cleveland days, Aviles is in for a good sophomore year, DeJesus is solid but always a let down, Jose Guillen is the man, Mike jacobs could be a big pick-up, and hopefully Alex Gordan turns things around. This line-up may be inconsistent, but is very capable of winning some games.

Pitching:
1. Gil Meche RH
2. Zack Greinke RH
3. Brian Bannister RH
4. Kyle Davies RH
5. Horacio Ramirez LH
Closer Joakim Soria RH

This rotation could surprise a few people as well. Meche could be solid, but I have never bought into him. People are really high on Zack Greinke as well, but for some reason I have never liked him. I think of him like I think of Gay Buchholz. Soria turned into one of the best closers in the league last year, and if he can keep it up they don't have to worry about their bullpen.

Prospects:
1) Mike Moustakas, 3B, Grade A-: I put him ahead of Hosmer right now since he’s played pro ball and performed well.
2) Eric Hosmer, 1B, Grade A-: Nothing wrong with Hosmer, I think he’ll be excellent.
3) Kila Ka’aihue, 1B, Grade B: A tough grade, but I think his breakthrough this year was mostly for real. Could rank anywhere from 3 to 8 depending on how you value pitching vs. hitting.

Overall:
I'm going to say it. Royal blue is going to run all over you. This team is going to make a huge leap to the next level this year. I'm not saying that they will make the play-offs, but I do say they will be close. Their hitting is going to click more often than not, and their pitching staff will be O.K.

Record 81-81
