NCAA Early Games

#8 LSU 75 #9 Butler 71

LSU's senior Marcus Thourton had a sick game scoring 30 points with 6 boards and 5 assists. LSU controlled most of this game, but let Butler sneak back in during the 2nd half. LSU showed some life on defense, as they had 8 blocks in the game. The Bulldogs (26-6) made things interesting by twice pulling within three in the final minute, but Johnson hit one of two free throws with 4.5 seconds left to seal it. This is the first time Butler has lost in the first round since 2000. LSU will not face the winner of the UNC vs. Radford game.

#2 Memphis 81 #15 Northridge 70

Memphis survived a scare today, as they were actually losing this game until about 5 mins into the 2nd half. Then Memphis went crazy, and leading the way was sophomore guard Roburt Sallie, who only averaged 4.5 points during the regular season, ended today's game with an amazing 35 points (10-15 from 3pt range). Incredible...that why you have to love the NCAA tournament. Memphis goes on to play the winner of the Maryland vs. Cal game.

#9 Texas A&M 79 #8 BYU 66

Why anyone would ever trust BYU is beyond me. This is now the 7th straight time BYU has been knocked out in the first round. Bryan Davis led the way with 21 points, as Texas A&M really had this game under control from the start. They will not face the winner of UConn vs. Chattanooga on Saturday.
