Ugh....
Papelbon is just one of those guys that should really learn to keep his mouth shut. In a recent interview he blasted Manny. I am fine with what he said, but I don't get the reasoning to going off about it. Here is what he said....
"It just takes one guy to bring an entire team down, and that's exactly what was happening," Papelbon was quoted as saying in the interview with Esquire's Chris Jones. "Once we saw that, we weren't afraid to get rid of him. It's like cancer. That what he was. Cancer. He had to go. It sucked, but that was the only scenario that was going to work (Boston.com)."
We get it Paps...This is something that could have been said last year after the team voted him off. Why bother digging up old fights? Manny is gone. He destroyed this team last year, and acted like a 5 year old that had his toy taken away. I don't know why, but this bothered me. It was just be better for everyone to put Manny behind us and focus on the future (and now).
I really think Papelbon will be a pain in the ass when his contract comes up and will not be a Red Sox. He will go for top dollar, and the Sox will end up letting up walk. He isn't a free agent for another three years, but has already been talking about getting at least 15 million a season...good luck with that. In the end who gives a fuck, 3 years from now is a long time, and Daniel Bard could be nasty by then.
