Pedro To The Jays?

"As the Jays struggle to remain in the race and no pitching depth, Toronto Star columnist Richard Griffin suggests the Jays should step up and take a chance on Pedro Martinez. Reports are the 37-year-old righty has been working out back home in the Dominican Republic and that several clubs have gone to watch him throw, including the Cubs and the Rays (Sportsline)."

Richard Griffin most likely has nothing to back this up, but it is interest. The Jays are not far out. My thinking is that the Sox are going to take over this division and the Rays, Jays, and Yankees will be battling for the #2 spot (and Wild Card). Toronto needs some help in their rotation. Other then Halladay everyone else has been either injured on not affective. Still I don't believe this, and it is not to say that Pedro wouldn't go there, but if two (maybe three) teams have gone down there to check in on him and no one has signed him then there is a problem. it is either that he doesn't have it anymore, or that his contract demands are still out of control. Anyways, just something to keep an eye on. It would suck to see him come to Fenway in a Jays uniform...
