Where's The Defense Rajon?

ESPN had an interesting writeup today about Rondo's poor defensive play lately. In the last 4 games Derrick Rose, Jason Kidd, Rodney Stuckey and Andre Miller have averaged 21.2 points, 8.7 assists, and 7.7 rebounds. Is this just a slump or have team figured out how to play against Rajon. To me it is a little of both.

Calm down DP, let me explain. Rondo is a gambler on defense. He goes for steals, and also has a tendency to leave his guy and recklessly go after a steal. A lot of times it works, but there are times that this gives an open look for the PG. Do I have a problem with this? No. Why? Because Rondo creates havoc for an offense, and can really throw a team off their games. When I think of Rondo I think of Asante Samuel of the Eagles. They both love to gamble, but sometimes it can lead to "big plays".

Another reason Rondo has been scored against a lot more lately is because they had been lacking their star defensive inside presence (KG) for 3 out of the 4 games. Without that inside threat guards can slash to the basket a lot easier, which makes Rajon's gambling a little more risky. People need to remember how young Rondo is. He will learn that he needs to change his style sometimes depending on what players are around him.

Rondo's defense will be fine, and this is merely a little "slump" defensively...nothing more.
