Wow, well at least everyone knows the season is over now. Rice-K was fucking awful last night going 4 2/3 innings letting up 8 runs on 8 hits with 4 Ks.
"I knew very well that this was a critical game," Matsuzaka said, "so to allow what happened to happen so early in the game, I can really only apologize to my teammates and to the fans."
As much as I want to rip on Dice-K, in his defense this was the first time in his last 16 starts that he let up over 4 runs. Yet, it does seem like most of his starts are more of the 6 innings 4 runs variety, then anything dominant. Basically he is just another question mark going into next season.
The Sox bullpen didn't help anything as Dustin Richardson, and Robert Manuel (who?) combined to pitch 1 1/3 innings letting up 6 runs. This bullpen has to be completely redone this offseason because other then Papelbon and Bard there is a bunch of guys that shouldn't be in the majors.
David Price started shaky, but the Sox didn't take advantage. With the win Price is now 17-6 with a 2.87 ERA, and will obviously be in the Cy Young talk come the end of the season.
Gross Red Sox Gross.
