My Post Red Sox Pissed Off Post

Listen, I know us Boston folk have been spoiled in the passed years with our success in pretty much every sport that matters and that I shouldn't be that mad right now. But Fuck You.

Tampa Bay played us well and I'll be rooting for them in the World Series but we could have won this series if it wasn't for one man...... Terry Francona...

I know that all of you are going to say "he has won us two world series'" and we came back from 3-1 and give poor Tito a break." But this series could have been over a lot sooner and Francona cost us two games.

Also, in this article there are going to be a lot of woulda, coulda, shoulda's so stick with me.

Let's start before the Playoffs. The Eastern title was within reach but instead of trying to take it Francona simply was happy with winning the wild card and having to battle the best team in baseball(at that time) rather than a weaker Chicago White Sox team. Fortunately for Tito, we were able to dominate the Angels as usual and then go against the Rays. Imagine if the Angels roughed up the Rays or even beat them, we "coulda" been in the World Series.

O.K. Now to the ALCS

Game 2

Josh Beckett's start 4.1 in, 8 er, 9 hits.
As you remember the Red Sox battled back in that game because Beckett was getting lit up in the first 4 innings, but in the 5th with the Sox leading 6-5 our "great" manager throws out a hurting pitcher to give up 3 more runs, instead of maintaining the lead. If we "woulda" won this game, we "woulda" been up 2-0 on the series with all the momentum in our direction and possibly "woulda" won some games in Boston. But as we know, that didn't happen.

Game 4

Listen, I love Wake as much as the next guy, but everyone and their mother knew that starting Wakefield over Byrd was a terrible decision. Again, I don't know if Byrd would have done any better but a guy posting a hefty 5.87 vs Tampa Bay isn't a great choice. Even if we took statistic's out of the scenario and just looked at it from an outside stand point, a guy who throws slow vs a team where pretty much everyone can steal bases is a receipt for disaster. Wake only lasted 2.2 innings and gave up 5 ers.

O.K. Certain players.

I will give Papi a bye because his wrist maybe really fucked up but the love affair with Varitek needed to stop. It was nice that Tito realized that Ellsbury forgot how to play baseball and acted accordingly, but he "shoulda" benched our captain.

Varitek literally couldn't hit a beach ball with a tennis racket and everytime he was up (except for once) it was an automatic out. He was batting a pathetic .053 in the ALCS and pretty much anyone (Cash, Casey and maybe Ellsbury) would have been a better option than him. When it was the top of the 9th and a man on first a part of me wanted him to hit into a double play so I could hate him more. Fortunately for the Sox he only struck out.

So with that being said; Fire Francona and banish Varitek from Boston and baseball.

Also, this isn't the recap. I'm not equipped well enough to do it. I am sure the Captain or BMack will have it up tomorrow.

P.S.
I still won't take the Rays seriously next year.
