The rules that will go into effect this fall are:
• No blind hits or blocks to the head.
• No contact to the head of a defenseless receiver.
• No more than five players bunched together on an onside kick.
• No more wedges on kickoffs.
I get the first two, even though Hines Ward will not be able to kill more people on the defense. But "The Wedge" is a necessary thing for stopping kick off returns. I understand that the wedge hurts players, but lets be honest here. It's fucking football. The onside kick thing makes me scratch my head too. Isn't that the only way to get onside kicks. Oh well, we will see how teams work around this.
