We'll only be running one of these to cover the games for today and tomorrow. Lot's to get through.
What You Missed:
Great games all around yesterday. At one point, FSU/GT and OSU/Wisco were on ESPN and ESPN 2 simultaneously, one was tied, the other saw GT with a one point edge and both had less than 30 seconds to go. That kind of excitement doesn't exist in any other month.
In the ACC, the semis are set. Duke will take on Maryland while UNC gets FSU. I'm seeing a UNC/Duke final with UNC winning for the third straight time. Final on Sunday.
Over in the Big East, 'Cuse thought it would be fun to play their seventh OT period in 2 days instead of just finishing West Virginia off in regulation. They will take on Louisville in the final tonight. 9:00PM, don't miss it. The winner is guaranteed a first or second round defeat in the NCAA Tourney.
One auto bid handed out yesterday - American took down Holy Cross in the Patriot League. 2nd straight tourney appearance for American.
What You Won't Want to Miss Today and Tomorrow:
Lots of finals, lots of auto bids. On the whole, most of these bids will go to teams that were making the Dance anyways. There are some spoilers lingering. If Duquesne beats Temple, does the A10 get 4 bids or do we say bye-bye to Temple? Baylor has a chance to win the Big 12 ending another bubble team's run.
Memphis is about to seal of the C-USA title which is a joke, they she be forced to find a new league instead of playing against glorified prep school kids.
Pay attention to the Mountain West final with San Diego State and Utah. SD is on the bubble. If they win or get an at-large, watch out for them next week. I could see a Sweet 16 run from them.
Finally, the Big Ten game between OSU and Michigan State should be really good. OSU stepped it up defensively yesterday and they should hang with the Spartans. I'm not sold on this MSU team. They don't have the talent of teams in past years. Fuck, I'm not sold on the Big Ten in general yet there is a decent chance they could get 5 or 6 teams in.
