The Night That Was and The Day That Is

What You Missed:

There were no auto bids handed out last night. Plenty of bubbles were popped but no new entrants.

Unreal day in the BET. It all started with Marquette’s amazing comeback, rallying from 16 down in the 2nd half to take the lead over 4 seed Villanova. Down 1 with less than 10 seconds to play, Nova relied on some nifty passing and a defensive breakdown by Marquette to pull off the buzzer beating lay up.

West Virginia beat 2 seeded Pittsburg pretty handily. Pitt never really looked in sync during the second half. It was almost as if Pitt had read the stats and knows the fail ratio of teams that win the BET.

We all know what happened in the late game. No need to rehash.

Other conferences – URI chocked their tourney chances away for good. Seems like an annual thing. Oklahoma is down and out of the Big 12. With a healthy Blake Griffin, the Sooners still couldn’t get the job done against instate rival OK St. Fun game to watch though. The Big 12 is wide open now with both Kansas and Oklahoma gone.

Who are the 1 seeds now? Oklahoma kissed their chances good-bye. I still like UConn, Pitt, Louisville and the winner of the ACC (Duke). Just kidding, I think so long as UNC makes the final, they are the final 1 seed. I’m not buying Memphis, sorry.

What You Will Not Want To Miss Today:

Semifinals of the BET. I like this WV/Syracuse game almost as much as the Louisville/Nova tilt. I believe it was Bob that said the UConn game wasn’t must see action because Syracuse blows…or something to that affect. I wonder if anyone is thinking the same for tonight’s game.

Duke will take on BC in the late ACC game. Va Tech still fighting for a bid will take on UNC in just under an hour. Maryland neeeeeeeds a win against Wake at 7:00PM tonight so that one should be interesting.

The Patriot League final is today, Holy Cross looking to sew up another NCAA Tourney bid. 4:30 start time on that one.
