Papelbon Responds To Injury Rumor

The Boston Globe reports that Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon deflected a report earlier in the week that he might have an injured shoulder. "No, it's fine," Papelbon said. "It's that time in the spring. The only way to get stronger is to work yourself. You're not going to get any stronger if you don't work yourself to fatigue."

Well that eases my mind a little bit, though I still think it is a little odd that he is only hitting 91 MPH on his fastball (he is usually around 96-98 MPH). It will be something to keep an eye on during the earlier part of the season. Papelbon is one of the best closers in the game, and losing him for any amount of time would be really hard to deal with. Though as DP says...someone get Smoltz ready!!!
