I have never been a big Star Trek guy, but I have seen all the movies, and overall they never bothered me. Well this movie is fucking awesome. JJ Adams is the best director going right now, and this movie could have been a really big flop, but instead he reenergized the franchise. The movie is action packed, the acting is great, and the story keeps you involved throughout.
This movie could have easily fell in the mold of the old Star Trek movies, where Kirk dominates the movie, and has to the lead throughout. In this movie the importance is spread over a couple characters, so there is no "overacting". Do yourself a favor, and give this movie a shot. You will probably have to put up with some dude with pointy ears, talking about the difference between the original and Generations, but if you can deal with that the movie is well worth it.
