Red Sox 7 Yankees 3

The beatings continue....

The Yankees got 12 K's from crack baby Joba Chamberlain, but a terrible first innings doomed his start. The Sox got out to a 4-0 lead in the first off A David Ortiz RBI single, and a Jason Bay 3 run HR. Joba also threw at Jason Bay, so expect some retaliation later in the season.

Beckett did a nice job bouncing back in this game. He ended up pitching 6 innings, and the only real trouble he ran into was a Damon 3 run HR in the 3rd. Other then that Boston controlled this game, and once again were able to wear down the Yankees pitching then crush their bullpen. While the Sox bullpen was exactly the opposite getting 3 scoreless innings between Saito and Okajima.

Things weren't all good for the Sox as Ellsbury had to leave the game with a pulled hamstring. We are not sure how serious it is yet, but this is the type of injury that could really hurt him, since he relies on his speed so much. Youk also did not play in this game after feeling stiffness in his back last game. He is day to day, and thinks the long rain delay on Monday may have caused it.

Boston improved to 17-10 on the season, and are one back from from the first place Jays (3 1/2 games up on the Yankees).
