The Sox will try to keep the good times rolling on the West Coast as the Wake will be going against youngster (well he is 29, but hasn't been in the MLB much) Matt Palmer tonight. Wake has been by far the Red Sox best starting pitcher this year, but he has been a little shaky his last two outings, and with Youk on the DL, Papi not hitting, and Pedroia banged up, the Sox would really use one of the Wake's better outings. On the season Wakefield is 4-1 with a 2.93 ERA, but in his career has struggled against the Angels (9-13 with a 4.79 ERA in 24 starts).
The Sox will be trying to solve the mystery that is Matt Palmer. I'll be honest I had never heard of this kid before this year, but he has been very solid for the Angels going 3-0 with a 3.06 ERA in 3 starts. Pedroia might be back in the lineup tonight which would be a huge boost, and some of Boston's "roll players" have been stepping up lately (Tek, and Lugo are both batting above .350 over the last 7 days).
I am not sure how I feel about this game, because I know never little about Palmer. Hopefully the Sox can figure him out, and put some runs on the boards, because it is just so hard to say what Wakefield you are going to see on any given night.
Game is at 10:05 on NESN.
