After a heartbreaking loss yesterday to the Angels when the Sox left runner after runner on base Boston will look to be much more "clutch". The good news for the Sox is that the Mariners have been playing like shit lately, they have lost 9 of their last 10 games.
Lester's year has not been what we all expected it would be. His ERA is 6.31 with a record of 2-3. Last time out he was rocked by the Rays for 8 runs in just 4 1/2 innings. He is looking to bounce back tonight against the weak hitting Mariners.
The Mariners are looking to Jakubauskas to stop the bleeding. Not really the best person to be doing so as he is 1-4 with a 7.67 ERA (OUCH!!). So if there was a game when the Sox could show they can knock in some runs tonight is the night.
Boston could use a lengthy start from Lester after Hideki Okajima, Ramon Ramirez and Jonathan Papelbon all pitched at least an inning in a 5-4, 12-inning loss to the Angels yesterday.
Game starts at 10:10 on NESN.
