There have been a lot of rumors going around over the past couple of weeks about the Celtics trading up in the draft. The rumors for the most part have circulated around Ray Allen, Rondo, and Perkins. Ainge finally responded somewhat to all the commotion...
“I think it’s unlikely,” Ainge said of trading up. “It’s possible, but unlikely.”
Though Ainge declined to discuss the rumors involving Rondo, a team source sniffed at the speculation involving the young floor leader, saying, “Rondo’s not going to be traded.”
As for the speculation that the Celtics are trying to make moves now that will clear space for a shot at a member of 2010’s highly anticipated free agent class, Ainge said, “We’re trying to win a championship next season. That’s my goal this summer (Boston Herald).”
There is no way that Rondo will be delt, but I do believe that the Celtics are listening to any offers on Perkins and Allen. Boston has a couple needs, but overall this was a banged up team that still wasn't far off from making it deep into the playoffs. Their needs are backup PG, a backup 3, and a backup big man. We'll see if anything goes down before the draft, but I doubt it. In the end, it's all about "in Danny we trust".
