Boston College Adds Another QB

"The wide-open quarterback competition at Boston College has gotten even more interesting. Less than a week after Dominique Davis announced he was transferring on the heels of his suspension for academic reasons, the Eagles received a verbal commitment from another quarterback. He doesn’t come with much college game experience - then again, the current crop of Eagles QBs doesn’t have much, either - but he will arrive at The Heights with a lot more life experience than most new recruits. Dave Shinskie, a 25-year-old former two-sport star at Mount Carmel High (Pa.) who initially chose to pursue baseball, visited Chestnut Hill last week, was offered a scholarship and committed to BC (Boston Herald)."

This kid played six-plus years in the minors, compiling a 24-30 record with a 4.61 ERA while never rising above Double A for the Twins. He has decided to come back to school, and when he saw the open competition at BC he jumped at the opportunity. To be a pitcher (even in the minors) you have to have a hell of an arm, so I am interested to see how this kid will do. Even if he is decent BC is going to have a tough year, and they are kind of in the rebuilding process. Still, it is something to keep an eye on as there are 3-4 QBs that really have a chance to steal the starting QB gig.
