DP reported earlier today that the Cowboys have cut Pro Bowl linebacker Greg Ellis today. Now reports seem to be leaning towards the Patriots signing him.
"Previously, pass-rushing defensive end Greg Ellis was mentioned as being on the trading block, and the New England Patriots were mentioned as a possible trading partner, seeing as they had a need for a pass-rusher. Upon Ellis' release yesterday, they can now grab him without trading away anything (ESPN)."
Ellis at age 33 is not the same player he once was, but the Patriots are known for pushing aging veterans for a few more productive years (Harrison, Seau, Cox, ect), so this would make sense. We will keep you posted if we hear more. The only other team that has been rumored is the Cincinnati Bengals...I think he'd rather play in New England.
