White Sox Call Up Aaron Poreda

After already calling up one of there biggest young prospects (Beckham) the White Sox are once again dipping into their minor leagues to fill out their roster...

"The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Aaron Poreda will be added to the major league roster Tuesday, likely taking Barolo Colon's spot in the starting rotation. Poreda is 5-4 with a 2.38 ERA in 11 starts (64 1/3 innings) for Double-A Birmingham (Sportsline)."

It is a big jump to go from AA to the majors. Don't get me wrong this kid has talent, but the White Sox are kind of throwing him to the wolves here. There is a part of me that think this is more of a showcase, then the White Sox actually relying on Poreda to fix their rotation. If you can remember this was the kid that was central to the Peavy deal, so maybe they are trying to entice other teams (Seattle?) to bite on this kid.

Poreda has talent. His fastball is around 100 MPH, and what really makes him dangerous is that he is a lefty. Still, I have been reading he needs to work on his secondary pitches, and that could be his downfall this year in the MLB.
