Things are starting to feel like the old days, aren't they? The Sox and Yankees sit atop the AL East and now will go head to head for a 3 game series. Tonight the Sox put their ace on the mound to A.J. Burnett. The good news for the Sox is that their ace (Beckett) has been on fire, and looks like he could be having a Cy Young caliber year.
Over Beckett's last 22 2/3 innings he has let up 1 run while striking out 22. The Sox are going to need another gem out of him as the Yankees have been tearing it up lately and Burnett has also been pitching well. In his career Burnett is 5-0 with a 3.52 ERA against the Sox, but Boston so far this season has not lost a game to the Yankees.
Everything you would want in a series will be on display. Sox and Yanks both fighting for 1st place in the AL East (Yankees are 1 game up on the Sox). There is drama with the whole Yankees steal Tex, and both teams are playing some of their better baseball of the season. I really can't wait for this game. Hopefully the rain will hold off.
Game starts at 7:10 on NESN.
