V-Mart was on WEEI yesterday, and he was very open about his willingness to play for Boston past the 2010 season...

Some stupid reporters are saying that the Red Sox are holding back, because of their interest in Adrian Gonzalez. If you know anything about the Red Sox then you know that is complete bullshit. Youk can easily move over to 3rd, Ortiz is retiring, V-Mart can play DH/1st/C, so there is a lot of room for a guy like Adrian Gonzalez (especially after this season is over).
Anyways, I really hope he signs long term. I know he won't be a catcher for too much longer, but even if he is eventually just a DH I think he could add more power to his game, and he would obviously be a lot fresh (hopefully resulting in better power numbers).
