Saw The Best And Worst Movies Of The Summer In One Weekend

I don't go to the movie very often, but this weekend I actually ended up seeing two movies. While I was blown away by how awesome Inception, I was equally blown away by how bad Predators was. Here is a quick review of both movies...

Inception:

This movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, and is directed by Christopher Nolan, who may very well be the best director going right now. Anyways, I don't want to give away anything in this movie, so a broad look at the plot is basically that DiCaprio basically uses dreams to steal information that he (or his employer) want. This movie is a combination of Nolan's other films (Memento, The Dark Knight, ect) in terms of their think plot lines, and emotional setting. While at the same time keeping you entertained with a combination of a bank robber movie, and something like the Matrix. I know that's a lot to take in, but trust me it's worth it. Nolan's unbelievable vision is so complex that it'll make your head spin, but at the same time the script is so good that you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole movie.

Predators:

Everything I wrote above was exactly what was missing in this movie. There is no plot, you don't care about the characters, and even the Predators suck. I am going to spoil the shit out of this, so if for some reason you are going to see this movie stop reading.

The movie starts well. Adrien Brody is free falling, he lands and notices he is in another world. It is not just him, but there are other terrible people with him and they are being hunted. Ok...all of that is fine, but that's about it for this film.

The movie goes on to tell us that there are two different kind of predators, and the war with each other....ugh. Ends up on the old predators we know will help humans. Yea, you read that right. On top of that there are a bunch of unnecessary characters. Laurence Fishburne is in the movie as a crazy guy that has been stuck on this planet too long. Cool idea, but they don't develop him, and it just kind of seemed like he was there for a quick paycheck.

Topher Grace (70's show) is also in the film, and let's be honest, he is a terrible actor, and I just can't take him seriously as a "scary" character. Adrien Brody is just as bad as everyone else. He goes over the top with his "tough guy" image and is going one of those gay "batman voices" the entire movie.

If that wasn't bad enough, we are also exposed to predator dogs, new big jaw predators, something that was in a cage and got out (sorry I know that is confusing, but they don't explain it). This movie was so boring I actually started to think about my fantasy baseball team about half way through, which is funny because I am having a terrible year, and it was still more fun to think about then this god awful movie.

There is not one good thing I can say about this movie, and I am officially done with all Predator movies that might be made in the future.
