Once again the Red Sox destroyed another masterful outing by Dice K, and the bullpen blew it. Dice K has been arguably the best Red Sox pitcher since coming off his second DL stint and has not lost in over a month. He shook off a shaky start and has returned to form.
But what happened to the bullpen is inexcusable. A day after breaking up Jon Lester's no-hit bid with a two-run homer, Michael Saunders came through again Sunday. His two-run single in the eighth inning gave Seattle the lead, Milton Bradley followed with a squeeze bunt to score another run, and the Mariners rallied for a 4-2 win over the Red Sox on Sunday.
The Sox are really pissing me off. The pitching and defense strategy would work if we just had relievers that didn't play the game like Gilbert Grape. If I was Theo I don't know if I'd bother fixing the problem and give away assets for a reliever, because this isn't a play off team. The injuries have been the real killer this year and that's something we'll have to ride.
