Sweet Lou Retiring
CHICAGO -- Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Tuesday he will retire after the season, ending a storied and colorful career that included 18 years as a player, 22 as a manager. more
Yes, he's been to the world series 5 times, yes he has 3 rings, (2 from playing, 1 from managing) but Lou Piniella is the most overrated coach in baseball history. He has a career average of .521 with 1,784 wins and 1,639 losses. Recently you could remember him having that awesome year with the Mariners, but hasn't done much after that. He was a failure in Tampa Bay and he's been a disaster in Chicago. People will remember him for his outbursts and being a great manager, but I see him as a guy who was given opportunities and never was able to make them into something.
