Doc wanted to take his starters out at the end of the game, but Paul Pierce pleaded with him to leave in the game. Shortly after that he knocked down the game winning 2.
Playing on his 33rd birthday, Pierce said this after the game:
"I got an 11 o'clock reservation I had to make," Pierce said. "I didn't want to stay any longer than I had to, you know what I'm saying? It's my birthday."
Kevin Garnett was assessed two technical fouls right around the 4:39 mark of the second quarter and was ejected. This came shortly after Jermaine O'Neal was assessed a technical foul for arguing a call. Garnett wasn't overly aggressive, however with the new NBA technical rules he was ejected. This makes me a little nervous because this could ruin this year. Especially for the Celtics who love to talk.
Luke Harangody's 16-point, 12-rebound double-double. He scored 11 of the 16 in the third quarter. He really battled for his rebounds tonight, often hauling them in with three or four Knicks right around him.
It was a good entertaining preseason game.
