Incompetence Costs Pats First Place

At the 2 minute warning of both the Jets and Dolphins games, the unthinkable was on the verge of happening. The Bills were holding on to a 3 point lead with the ball and the 49ers just got the ball back and were beginning their drive towards a game winning TD.

Fast forward 10 minutes and the Pats were right back where they started the day - effectively in 3rd place in the crowded AFC East division. The Bills managed to turn the ball over 3 times in the final 2 minutes including a JP Losman fumble retured for a TD giving the Jets the lead back. The Niners were a long shot but at the time, it seemed like everything was coming up Patriots.

Very disappointing end to the early games and the pounding the Pats inflicted on Oakland provided little comfort. Sloppy losses have killed New England and with only two games remaining, they are in full miracle mode.
