The Red Sox and infielder Kevin Youkilis have taken initial steps toward a possible long-term contract extension, his agent told the Boston Globe.
"We've had some what I would term early-stage conversations," Joe Bick, the agent, told the newspaper. "That's really where it is. To predict which way it's going to go at this point in time would be pretty tough to do."
Bick added that Youkilis would be comfortable repeating what he did last offseason: avoid arbitration and sign a one-year contract.\
Well at least this is some good news in the dreadful day. Youkilis has turned into a premier player who's grit and patient hitting has made him into an all star. The former Cincinnati Bearcat proved he is a master of all trades and can play the corner positions flawlessly. I would like to see him get a 6-7 year deal, and depending on what we do this offseason, see him stick to a position.
