NEW YORK RANGERS 1, WASHINGTON CAPITALS 0
(New York leads series 2-0)
New York took 2 games in Washington, which means they're not only in the driver's seat, they're getting a highway hummer from late 90's Angelina Jolie. I watched some of this game on NBC, and the two announcers literally didn't stop talking about Sean Avery and Alex Ovechkin. The real hero of this series is "King" Henrik Lundqvist. He turns the Rangers from a mid-level squad, to a scary team to play.
DETROIT RED WINGS 4, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS 0
(Detroit leads series 2-0)
Speaking of shutouts, Detroit continues to dominate the BJs. Chris Osgood is a very good goalie, but 100 years from now his playoff numbers will look ridiculously too good. I think this was his 14th postseason shutout. But this is the revers of the NYR/WAS series, the real heroes are the skaters. Rafalski, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hudler all scored for Detroit.
BOSTON BRUINS 5, TWATREAL CUNTADIENS 1
(Boston leads series 2-0)
If Montreal doesn't have a good 1st period in Game 3, the series is over. The Bruins have gotten goals from 7 players, and points from 13, including goalie Tim Thomas. The Canadiens have tried out-skating the Bruins, and failed. They've tried provoking, and failed. They've tried hitting, and it wore them out. All they have left is that Hab playoff magic, which might be taking the spring off.
Wrong Bruins? I might care.
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS 3, CALGARY FLAMES 2
(Chicago leads series 2-0)
Calgary takes a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period, and they STILL can't beat Chicago. Three goals in the middle frame (2 from Jonathan Toews), and a 2-0 Flame lead, turns into a 3-2 Blackhawk advantage. Must be frustrating. The Flames may be burnt out, but they do have some hot fans...
