Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 9

Three shutouts, and an 11 goal slugfest, that's what the NHL gave us last night. So delicious.

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS 3, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS 0
(Pittsburgh leads seres 3-2)
Sidney Crosby=Mr. Inconsistent. He was -2 in this game. Meanwhile, some lesser known scorers had the goals for Philly. Aaron Asham, and Mike Knuble each scored. Claude Giroux had his 2nd of the series. The hardest game to win in a series is the clinching game. Philly now gets to take the series back East and perhaps live for another day.

DETROIT RED WINGS 6, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS 5
***Detroit wins series 4-0***
The Wings knocked off the BJ's, but they also exposed their weaknesses in the process. Osgood's faux-legend status took a hit as he let 5 pucks past him. The Wings allowed the 4th most goals among playoff teams, and they can be scored upon with ease. But they usually score more. Nicklas Lidstrom got his first goal of the series, Tomas Holmstrom and Daniel Cleary their 2nd. Marian Hossa scored twice in the 2nd period. Johan Franzen scored the winner with 47 seconds left in the 3rd.

NEW JERSEY DEVILS 1, CAROLINA HURRICANES 0
(New Jersey leads series 3-2)
After a 7 goal explosion from these teams in Game 4, they went back to basics, and combined for 1 goal. Martin Brodeur ties Patrick Roy's record for playoff shutouts with 23. That's a lot. Marty stopped 44 shots in total.

ANAHEIM DUCKS 4, SAN JOSE SHARKS 0
(Anaheim leads series 3-1)
Wow, after San Jose won Game 3, I though they'd woken up and would take this series in 5 games. I guess not. Jonas Hiller returned to mythical status, notching his 2nd playoff shutout in 4 starts. Joe Thornton was asleep on the ice, which should bring back memories for Bruins fans. He was -3. Bobby Ryan scored twice, his 3rd and 4th of the series. Evgeni "People Think I Deserve the Vezina More than Thomas?" Nabokov allowed 3 goals off 25 shots. He has a 2.78 GAA and .888 SV% in this series. Timmy's better!

Tonight's game:
7:00PM - Rangers @ Capitals (Rangers lead series 3-1) - Vs.

This game matters, Bruins fans. If New York wins, they're the B's next opponent.
