Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 8

Another series ends in sweepage, a goalie finally gets some well-deserved recognition, and a 10 goal thriller ties up a once lopsided series. Another amazing night for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

BOSTON BRUINS 4, MONTREAL CANADIENS 1
***Bruins win series 4-0***
The Bruins became the second team to advance to the second round, their first advancement in the playoffs since 1999, and their first sweep since 1992. The B's scored 17 goals, and only allowed 6 against an extremely overmatched opponent. Montreal's 100th off-season starts with a 4-1 loss, and that's just fine with me.

The Bruins wait for their next opponent, which will be the 7th seeded Rangers if they beat the Caps. It Washington comes back, the Bruins could face the Hurricanes, Penguins, or Flyers.

NEW YORK RANGERS 2, WASHINGTON CAPITALS 1
(New York leads series 3-1)
King Henrik Lundqvist stopped 38 shots from one of the best offenses in the NHL, and the Caps are on the verge of once again bowing out early. Washington was 0 for 6 on the power play. Ovechkin had his first goal of the series, and they'll be going back to DC, but I don't think Washington can beat New York 3 times in a row, not with Lundqvist in net. And as a Bruins fan, I'm just a bit worried about facing him.

CALGARY FLAMES 6, CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS 4
(Series tied 2-2)
Olli Jokinen had 2 goals, an assist, and was +4. Jarome Iginla also had 2 goals and an assist. There were 6 goals in the 2nd period alone, 3 from Calgary, 3 from Chicago... in that order. The Flames had lost 6 straight to Chicago before the series came to Alberta. Now they got back to the Windy City all tied up. This series is becoming the most exciting one to watch.

Tonight's games:
7:00 PM - Flyers @ Penguins (Penguins lead series 3-1) - Vs
7:00 PM - Red Wings @ Blue Jackets (Red Wings lead series 3-0)
7:30 PM - Hurricanes @ Devils (Series tied 2-2)
10:30 PM - Sharks @ Ducks (Ducks lead series 2-1)
