Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 17
Still no upsets yet, but we were close. Some drama in Detroit, and a beatdown in Boston.
DETROIT RED WINGS 3, ANAHEIM DUCKS 2
(Detroit leads series 1-0)
The Ducks had to kill 6 penalties, and that was their ultimate undoing. Nicklas Lidstrom had the game winner with 0:50 on the clock, but the Ducks simply went to the penalty box too often. Detroit's power play is like a fantasy team, and they were 2 of 6 with the man advantage.
Early turning point in this game was a vicious late hit to the head that Anaheim's Mike Brown leveled on Jiri Hudler.
The Ducks were up 1-0, but Hudler was given a 5 minute major, along with a game misconduct. On the 5 minute power play, Detroit tied it up.
And Kirk Hinrich, Brad Miller, pay attention because Jiri Hudler is 100 times tougher than you panzies. He got cut up bad and still managed to play 13 minutes. afterward.
BOSTON BRUINS 4, CAROLINA HURRICANES 1
(Boston leads series 1-0)
Tim Thomas shined, Marc Savard netted 2 goals, and despite some rust; the Bruins rolled. Carolina did not have an answer for Milan Lucic, nor any physical play from the Bruins. The Bruins put bodies in front of Cam Ward, and beat the Conn Smythe winner 4 times.
Here's Marc Savard talking to his stick, and Don Cherry analyzing it. Both Savard and Cherry are apparently insane:
Saturday's games:

9:00 PM - Blackhawks @ Canucks (Canucks lead series 1-0) - Vs
