Catching Up With LOST

Next time I won't wait two episodes this is kind of just a catchup.

Last season ended with Juliet slamming a rock off the nuke, and the screen going white. We were left to wonder if Jack could really reset everything. So, we find it work...kind of.

There are 2 timelines going on right now. 1 where the bomb resets everything, and they all land in LAX fine, except things are different then how we saw them in season 1. Sure the roles are the same. Jack is the hero doctor, Kate is arrested, and Charlie is still blowing heroine, but it is the little things that are different.

Example: Desmond is on the plane, the conversation between Rose and Jack are reversed.

My thinking is that this is what life would have been like if the island was never part of their lives. Remember the island had an influence on them before they even got there (ex. Jacob meeting them at different point in their lives prior to arriving on the island).

Back on the island things are not going well for the "Others". The "Man in Black" (or Flocke as I like to call him) has got Ben to kill Jacob and is now running the show. We see in the first episode one of the biggest mysteries revealed, one in which we have been wondering about since the first episode of the first season. Who is the Smoke Monster? Well is it Flocke. So, Flocke turns into the smoke monster and kills off a bunch of Jacob's bodyguards.

Meanwhile, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and a very injured Sayid (who was shot at the end of last season) get to see good old Juliet die, but not before she says "it worked". We are supposed to think that she had some kind of flash to the other timeline. After a long death scene and a whole bunch of Sawyer man tears, the group decides to try to save Sayid by bringing him to the Temple, because Hugo saw a dead Jacob in the jungle and that's that he said to do. So, why the hell not.

They go to the temple and things once again don't go well. They are captured, and the temple others bring Sayid to a pool and drown him. Don't worry Sayid wakes up later and asks "what happened".

Ok, on to this weeks show. The episode is Kate-centric, so we are focused on what Kate does best...run. In the "reset" timeline Kate has escaped from federal agent and is once again on the run. She steals a cab, and guess who is in it? That's right Claire. Somehow Kate and Claire get some kind of friendship going, and Kate ends up bringing her to the hospital, so that she can have her baby.

On island, Sawyer steals a gun from one of the temple others, and decides he is out of there. He leaves everyone else and heads back to the others little town, which he lived in for 3 years. It doesn't take long for Kate to decide that running is a great idea, so she says she'll bring him back, and heads out into the jungle. She finally meets up with Sawyer and we find that he is a mess, but we also find out that Kate's real reason for running to to go find Claire.

Claire shows up at the end of the episode just in time to kill 2 temple others. We'll get to all that later.

Back at the Temple Jack has a dilemma on his hands. The head of the temple others wants Jack to give Sayid a pill, because he believes after torturing him that he is "infected". Jack goes back and forth, but finally decides to just take it himself. This nearly kills him, and we find out that the temple others really want Sayid dead.

Ok, so that is basically where the show is at.

What we know:
- Flocke is the Smoke monster, and is most likely been taking the shape of Jack's dad also.

- The temple others and Russo both believe that something from the temple can "infect you".

- Claire in both timelines ends up with the baby.

Theories:

- Both timelines will somehow converge. I say with because of all the deja vu the characters seem to be having in the "reset" timeline.

- I am not sold that Jacob is the good guy. I actually thing Flocke and him are bad.

- Flocke says Richard looks good out of his chains. Most likely meaning Richard is from the Black Rock.

- I think the head of the temple others is also from that boat.

- I think Claire is dead, and probably has been "infected" much like Sayid.

Cool things to notice:

- The Dharma symbol on the shark when they did that shitty CGI scene of the island being underwater.

- Sayid was tortured the same way by Russo in season 1. She must know how to diagnose the "infection".
