11 Yankees, 9 Red Sox
Dice K has been a major disappointment this year. I don't know if he just isn't good, getting back into the grove of things or what, but for an already bad Red Sox team he needed to step up and has done the opposite of that. He showed a glimpse of what he can do the previous game, but absolutely got blown up against the Yankees last night. He allowed 7 runs in 4.2 innings and struck out 3. Not that good for a guy who was 2 seasons removed from going 18-3 with a sub 3 era.
Even though Dice stunk up the joint the Sox still should have won the game. The offense once again bailed him out and scored 9 runs, and the bullpen up to Papelbon did it's job (Wakefield 2.1 innings, and Bard 1 inning) but in the 9th all hell broke loose and Papelbon let up 4 runs on two homeruns, 1 from Gay Rod and 1 from Marcus Thames.
It just sucks figuring the offense did its job David Ortiz, Victor Martinez hit 2, JD Drew and Kevin Youkilis all hit homeruns. Whatever, in reality this whole season has been a disaster and a .500 record is what I see in the Sox future.
The second game is played today at an undisclosed location at an undisclosed time.
