There are rumors flying around today that the Rangers are back looking at Lowell. Texas badly needs a right handed at, and Lowell would seem to be the perfect fit. Lowell recently said he wanted to be cut, but this could be a nice alternative. Originally the Sox were basically going to pay his contract to go there in exchange for Max Ramirez. It could be a very similar deal now that Lowell has proved he is at least healthy enough to bat.
I think the Sox should do this ASAP. Ortiz seems to be settling back in, and there just isn't much use for Lowell. Plus with all the injuries they have had he is just kind of eating up a bench spot, without the ability to play the field much.
