Red Sox Keeping An Eye On Chris Iannetta
The Red Sox are monitoring Chris Iannetta’s progress in case the Rockies make him available, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. He is currently in the minors after struggling with the Rockies, but the Sox have had interest in him for a long time. He hit the ball really well in the minors over his career (.362), and has a hell of an arm (throwing out seven of 13 would-be base stealers). Still, how would he fit on this team.
The Sox do have 2 catchers right now, but I could still see this happening only if the Sox decide to cut ties with Lowell, and either Tek or Ortiz. The Sox could also bring him in and keep him in the minors for a year, since both Tek's and VMart's contracts are up after this season. Anyways, just something that has been rumored a lot, and we'll be keeping an eye on.
