Red Sox @ Rays Preview
The Red Sox could finally turn the tables on the Rays after that ugly sweep at Fenway earlier in the year. The problem is they have to go through Matt Garza, and that is not something that has been easy for the Red Sox. Garza is 6-2 with a 2.92 ERA against the Sox in his career. Garza has never lost to the Red Sox at home, and his dominance continued in Boston on April 18, when he gave up 4 hits in 8 scoreless innings of a 7-1 win. He also was sharp Friday at Houston, pitching an 8 inning complete game in Tampa Bay's 2-1 loss. So, yea he could be a problem
The Sox counter with Lackey, who has been anything but stellar lately. Last time out Lackey continued to struggle, walking a season high 5 and allowing 4 runs in 5 innings of a 5-1 loss to the Phillies. Lackey also got rocked for 8 runs in 3 1/3 innings in a loss earlier in the season against the Rays.
Boston will also be playing without V-Mart. Yet, still I think the Sox are going to win. Lackey is due for a good game, and hopefully the Sox can figure out Matt Garza.
Sox win 7-5
Player of the Game: Beltre
Game starts 7:10pm on NESN.
