Victor Martinez said on Tuesday night that he was still feeling al ot of pain in his injured toe and did not think he would play on Wednesday night against the Rays. He would once again be replaced by Jason Varitek.
This is really too bad, because V-Mart had been hitting the cover off the ball last week. He hadn't been all that impressive this season until right before he got hurt. Hopefully he will still be on fire when he returns, but the good news is that Tek has been playing well this year and should be fine, if he is needed for the next couple of games.
The Sox just need to get healthy, their pitching is getting it going and if this lineup can get Cameron, Ellsbury, and V-Mart going they are going to be all set. The Sox are starting to become a dangerous team, but the question remains whether or not they started to get it going to late?
