Celtics Re-Signing Donkey

Per Mark Murphy:

Aaron Goodwin, the agent for Nate Robinson, said yesterday the two sides could reach a deal by the end of the week.

"Things are going well," Goodwin said. "We're just trying to get something worked out. But both parties are talking."

Unlike they had with Allen, the C's don't hold the so-called "Larry Bird rights" to Robinson, and as a result, can't go over the salary cap to give their backup point guard more money.

I have a weird time justifying Nate Robinson. He's electric, energetic, can give you instant offense, however, he's more of a luxury than anything else. He came up big a couple of games during the post season, however for most of the season he came off the bench. And right now with the Celtics back up backcourt being Avery Bradley and Nate Robinson (if he re-signs) doesn't really instill confidence. We better find a way to sign Josh Howard or something because the loss of Tony Allen certainly is stinging more and more every day. The crazy thing about the not signing Tony ordeal is that he loved Boston and we had Bird Rights on him so even if we signed him we would be allowed to go over the cap without penalty. I just don't get it.
