There is an award show tonight (7:30pm on ESPN). Here are my picks for some of the awards tonight.
Chuck Bednarik Award (best defensive player):
-Rey Maualuga- Hands down best defensive player in college football. Had 12 sacks, and you just know this guy is going to be the next great thing for NFL LBs.
Maxwell Award (best all-around player):
-Colt McCoy- I know I'll get shit for this pick, but in my opinion he has had a better year then Tebow. He can run like Tebow, but throw a lot better. I know Tebow will win, such there is a Brett Favre like lovefest with him, but McCoy had a hell of a year (I also think he will be a much better NFL player).
Davey O'Brien Award (best quarterback):
-Sam Bradford - I hate him, but he had a hell of a year. He threw for 4,464 yards and an NCAA high 48 touchdowns and completed 68.3 percent of his passes this year. There is just no argument here.
Doak Walker Award (best running back):
-Javon Ringer: My favorite player in college football (since Perrilloux became a dink). Led the NCAA with 21 rushing touchdowns, while also running for 1,590 yards, second-best in the Big Ten history. If this guy had anyone else around him, he would have broken all kinds of records.
Biletnikoff Award (best receiver):
-Michael Crabtree: Won it last year, if catching 93 passes for 1,135 yards and 18 touchdowns wasn't enough, he decided to cap it off with game winning TD reception with 1 sec left to beat (at the time) #1 Texas...yea, he deserves this.
Heisman is announced on Saturday...DP and I will have our picks earlier that day.
