Boston College has fired head basketball coach Al Skinner today. A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. today. There had been rumors last week that Skinner was going after the St. John's job, and that's most likely the reason for the firing. There are already 4 coaches rumored to be taking the BC job (Richmond coach Chris Mooney, Cornell coach Steve Donahue, Harvard coach Tommy Amaker, and Northeastern coach Billy Coen). Out of those 4 Tommy Amaker seems the most likely.
If URI did think about a new coach then you would have to think Skinner would be at the top of the list. I doubt it would happen, but he does have ties there. Still, I think he will go to a bigger program.
