MLB Team Breakdowns: Minnesota Twins
Lineup
1. CF Denard Span
2. 2B Orlando Hudson
3. C Joe Mauer
4. 1B Justin Morneau
5. RF Michael Cuddyer
6. DH Jason Kubel
7. LF Delmon Young
8. SS J.J. Hardy
9. 3B Brendan Harris
I really like their offense a lot. Mauer and Morneau are one of the games best 1-2 punches. Even though I will never take the seriously, Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel both have 30+ HR potential. I like the Orlando Hudson addition, and even though his defense may have deteriorated, he still is a decent hitter and fits perfectly in that 2 hole. If JJ Hardy has a good year he could add some pop at the end of that line up also. Plus lead off man, Denard Span has been getting better every year.
Rotation:
1. RHP Scott Baker
2. RHP Carl Pavano
3. RHP Nick Blackburn
4. RHP Kevin Slowey
5. LHP Francisco Liriano
CL: Who knows, Jon Rauch?
There is no Ace that will jump out at you. Fransisco Liriano was supposed to be that man, but he tanked last year. And Baker, Pavano, Blackburn, and Slowely are all just average. The real key to this rotation is if Liriano can be the saving grace. If he can they will be alright, if he tanks, they will be in some big trouble. Plus Losing all star closer Joe Nathan for a year doesn't help much either.
Overall:
It'll be another grind it out season against them, the Tigers and the White Sox this year. I'm leaning toward the White Sox, but the Twins could certainly do it with that hard hitting line up. I'm just not convinced by that pitching staff.
