The Red Sox offense exploded last night, the question now is...can they do it consistently?
I don't think they can with the offense the way it is right now (especially without Ellsbury in the lineup), so Boston is going to have to rely on their starting pitching. Tonight, we get to see Lester on the hill against Ervin Santana.
Lester will try to extend his string of 12 2/3 scoreless innings. He seems to have put his early season struggles, and it couldn't come quick enough for the desperate Red Sox team. I am not a huge fan of the Angels offense, so I think Lester will have a strong start tonight.
Santana has never been very good against the Sox (1-2 with 5.29 ERA). Santana posted a 6.94 ERA while losing his first 2 outings, but has a 3.32 ERA in his last 3 starts, each of which has lasted at least 6 innings.
I think this will be a low scoring game, but the difference will be Lester. I think he needs to go at least 7 innings for the Sox to win, and I believe he will so...Sox win.
Boston wins 4-3
Player of the Game: Jon Lester
Game starts at 7:10 on NESN.
