ESL Preview: Hull Kingston Rovers v. Wakefield Wildcats

Friday 12 March @ Craven Park – 3:10pm EST on SKY Sports

Both teams sit at a giant 2nd place tie at 3-2. The winner will get seated with the rest of top ranked teams while the loser will be stuck trying to dig themselves out in time for the Gillette Cup. This week will premier several standings breaking games. The top two seeds Wigan Warriors and Hull F.C. will face off as well but the game is not planned to be aired on SKY Sports.

“Hull Kingston Rovers have a doubt over stand-off Chaz I’Anson, who has a knee injury, so coach Justin Morgan may switch Ben Galea from the pack. Morgan has called Frankie Mariano, a 22-year-old centre or second rower, into his squad for the first time. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach John Kear has responded to his side’s 52-0 thrashing by Huddersfield Giants by calling up prop Ben Gledhill and teenage stand-off Cain Southernwood, who could replace the injured Ben Jeffries.”

The bottom line is Wakefield is bringing in some big smashers to test the thinned forwards of Hull. Hull has less total yards gained overall and has been struggling tackling from the Marker position. Big forwards will eat up teams who can’t tackle from the Marker position. However, Hull is going to be looking to League star David Hodgson to lead their squad into the top 4 seeds with a big win.
