Blue Jays @ Red Sox Preview

It has been a tough year for the Red Sox, but they seem to be finding their footing, as they are 7-3 in their last 10 games. They go for the sweep today against the Jays, but it won't be easy with the matchup of Wakefield going against Marcum.

Marcum missed all of last year after Tommy John surgery, but has bounced back nicely this year with a 1-1 record and a 3.19 ERA. He has had good success against the Red Sox in his career (4-2 3.33 ERA). Marcum has six quality starts in seven outings, holding opponents to a .219 average. He limited Boston to one run in seven innings of a game the Blue Jays lost 2-1 on April 27...so basically it could be a tough day for hitting in Boston.

Boston brings the Wake to the hill to take the place of Beckett, which is probably a good thing since Beckett has been lit up by the Jays in the past. Wake is off to a bad start this year with an ERA over 6, but has been good against the Jays in his career (17-13 3.93 ERA). There is really just no way of knowing what you will get from Wake, but I have to admit I am not feeling very confident about this game.

So, for the first time this year I am picking the Sox to lose.
