I know, you're sick of reading it, the team is sick of talking about it, and I am sure Francona never wants to hear his name again, but it is really time to move on from Ortiz. I know he turned it on in June last year, but the Sox can't wait that long this year.
Last night he struck out twice and hit into two double plays. Ortiz is hitting .149 through 67 at-bats. He’s got 3 homers and 6 RBIs. He’s struck out 25 times. He came up several times with runners on last night. None scored, so isn't it time to move on.
Pedroia has come out and said that he still think Ortiz will turn it on like he did last year, but when you have a guy like Lowell who has been killing the ball lately how do we put this double play/strikeout machine out there? He can't hit, he can't field, so what's the fucking point.
Ortiz has done a lot for this team over the year, but it is time to move on. I don't think Papi is coming back, and even if he does it may be too late. It is time to move on, it is time to cut Papi.
