Ozzie Guillen's New Rant: Asians

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen thinks Asian players are given privileges in the United States that Latinos are not afforded.

"Very bad. I say, why do we have Japanese interpreters and we don't have a Spanish one. I always say that. Why do they have that privilege and we don't?" Guillen said Sunday before Chicago played the Oakland Athletics. "Don't take this wrong, but they take advantage of us. We bring a Japanese player and they are very good and they bring all these privileges to them. We bring a Dominican kid ... go to the minor leagues, good luck. Good luck. And it's always going to be like that. It's never going to change. But that's the way it is."

When I first heard about this story my reaction was typical Ozzie, he should just shut the fuck up. To his credit he might be right on this time. I never really thought about it before, but why do Asians get interpreters and Latino players don't. I get that it is much easier to go Spanish to English, then it is for Asian players to learn English, but it still does seem kind of wrong.

My opinion is that they should all have to learn English. No I am not about to go all southern on you, but if I was hired by a company and my boss spoke English, I would think by default I would have to learn it.

This isn't calling out all Asians. Dice-K has not a decent job of learning the language, and can actually hold somewhat of a conversation. Okajima on the other hand has learned 1 word of English, he doesn't want to and that's wrong if Latino players have to.

Anyways, give credit to Ozzie I think he is right about this one, but then again you throw enough shit against a wall something gonna stick.
