The Sox are now 6 1/2 games behind the Yankees and 5 1/2 games behind the Rays...40 games left, so win now or give up on the season.
Tonight we get to see Lester vs Brett Cecil. Lester was not very good after the All-Star break but has thrown 14 1/3 shutout innings, and to make it more impressive those two games were against the Yankees and Rangers. Lester is an ace, and the Sox need him to pitch like one tonight.
Cecil will try to rebound from his first loss in seven starts. After getting seven days off, he gave up seven runs and 10 hits 3 homers in 5 2/3 innings of a 7-2 defeat to the Angels on Saturday. Cecil is having a very solid year, but he seems to be wearing down. His velocity is dropping, and I think the Sox are going to light him up tonight at Fenway.
