Jets/ Nick Mangold Close To Getting Deal Done
A couple reasons why this deal is significant. 1st is that when this deal gets done, it will put more pressure on Darelle Revis to sign an extension. 2nd, it's good to see an organization pay their offensive line figuring they protect the QB. Nick Mangold not only has a great last name, but he is one hell of a center and a vital piece of the Jets offensive line. Unlike another AFC East team, the Jets are smart enough to know protecting their QB is a top priority instead of just letting him walk or pissing him off so much that he doesn't want to come back. I assume that he will sign a deal similar to Jason Brown of the Rams with a five-year, $37.5 million deal that included $20 million in guarantees.
This also should create a chain reaction where Revis will sign a tender or an extension within the next couple of weeks. But who knows, they are still 40 million dollars apart.
