Angels @ Red Sox Preview
The Red Sox go for the sweep tonight, which is awesome it's just too bad the Yankees and Rays have also been winning. Boston is still 5 1/2 games behind both those teams, and with only 41 games left the Sox are in need of making up some ground.
Tonight it's Beckett vs. Ervin Santana. Beckett same off the DL, and looked like a guy who might turn around his season 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA in his first 3 starts. It didn't last as he has gotten pounded for 13 runs and 21 hits over 9 2/3 innings while losing his last 2 outings. Beckett is no where near being this teams ace anymore, at this point he needs to prove that he even deserves to be in this rotation. Beckett's first win after being activated came against the Angels. He gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 7 innings of a 7-3 win in Anaheim on July 28, so hopefully that means he can handle this lineup.
Santana is 1-2 with a 4.61 ERA in seven starts versus Boston, and has won 4 of his last 5 starts. Santana can implode, but so can Beckett, so I am not very confident in the Sox tonight even though they have the Angels number this year.
Angels win 7-5
Player of the Game: Torii Hunter
Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.
