Red Sox @ Orioles Preview
Josh Beckett takes the hill tonight and will try to build of a decent start last time out. Kind of sad that all he has to hang his hat on is a 6 1/3 outing letting up 3 runs on 4 hits with 7 Ks. Not that it's a bad outing, but Beckett certainly has been a disappointment all season with his 6.50 ERA.
Is there good news? Well there is always good news. Beckett is 5-1 with a 2.98 ERA in 9 career starts in Baltimore, and he did look better last time out. Going against him is youngster Brian Matusz. He's 3-1 with a 2.32 ERA in his last five starts, and 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA in three starts versus Boston this season. He is going to be very good, but if the Red Sox are going to make the playoffs they can't lose to teams like Baltimore.
Boston is currently 6 1/2 games out of the Wild Card/AL East, and I think they are done, but if they want any believers they are going to need to crush teams like this.
Red Sox win 6-4
Player of the Game: V-Mart
Game starts at 7:05pm on NESN.
